Jacobs methotraxate level is 0.08 and he will be going home today. :)

4th and last high dose methotraxate July 28, 2011

Hopefully after this we will not need to stay for several days at the hospital. We will continue to go back and forth several days a week, but just getting home for the evening is so much better than staying in the hospital. this time the rooms are overpacked, we are staying tree patients (+family) in one room. It is amazing how parents can still keep up a positive spirit. The chemo is a bit delayed as Jacobs ph is not high enough, he needs more hydration and as soon it’s high enough he will get his 23 hour dose chemo. I woke up this morning with a totally stiff neck and a pain in the whole shoulder area. I guess that is what you get after 6 months of child cancer treatment. Luckily for me during the round the doctor looked at me and said that I should definitely go upstairs and get a massage. So I did, 20 minutes while Lucas was as nice as he always is and was just playing on the floor with his toys. Jacob stayed in his room playing iPad. I feel better now especially as I also got a Starbucks coffee but I definitely need more of that massage.

My parents left yesterday, after being here with us for five weeks. before they came I waited for the day they should come when they arrive, Therse last days I have been hoping for the time to stop so they could stay longer. It’s always difficult to say good buy, nothing lasts forever, not good things but neither do bad, I have to believe that, trust that. Live life fully today and believe what my dear friend always says, the best is yet to come.

Jacob has been in great mood, he had a play date with his leukemia friend in the hospital but he was playing mine craft most of the time, he even tried to teach the nurses how to play. I managed to squeeze in some science activities, making colorful crystals and a volcano.
Jacob cleared the chemo very well and we were happy to get home today.
It is always stressful to have to stay in the hospital but thanks to friends and family, coming with food and helping taking care of Simon, things were a bit easier.

Now we do not have an doctors appointment until Friday, we are waiting for Jacobs body to recover so that he can get the last high dose methotrexate for this round and after that we are going in to the next phase called delayed intensification.

Jacob’s ANC (Immune system) is 1800 which is super good and shows his bone marrow is functioning well. He is now approved to come back into treatment and can finally get chemo again. Got his back poke today and will be admitted tomorow. Hurray for Jacob! :)

Please pray for
Jacobs counts to be up so that he can start his treatment on Wednesday and for his leukemia buddy Chase counts too (then they can have a play date at the hospital)

I also want to ask you to pray for a little girl, Elsa 4years old, pray that the chemo will work this time and for a full recovery from her leukemia, pray for her parents and her sister, for strength and comfort.
